ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
In response to the underrepresentation of historically disadvantaged
populations with doctoral degrees or in advanced research and academic
positions, the Latina Researchers Network is committed to eliminating
barriers and advancing opportunities for underrepresented populations in
research activities, evaluations, and scholarship.
With the theme of “Collective Actions Toward Healing and Change”,
this year’s conference will emphasize the longstanding need for
systemic changes across sectors and issues that impact scholars,
researchers, academicians, evaluators, and the next generation of
investigators working in and across various institutions and
Toward this end, the conference seeks to:
Increase exposure to advanced research careers for diverse scholars, Ensure underrepresented scholars receive the latest methodological training, Provide access to role models and networking opportunities, Inspire and support the next generation of investigators, Improve efforts to recruit and retain underrepresented students, researchers, and faculty members, Promote multi-disciplinary collaborations across issues and sectors, Engage stakeholders and decision-makers in addressing systemic and instructional barriers.
The conference includes plenary discussions and presentations by
renowned researchers and activist scholars, hands-on workshops and
roundtable discussions (LRN Pláticas). The conference also features
early career investigators during poster sessions and includes
networking events to connect rising investigators to senior scholars,
evaluators, academicians, and researchers.
