My hand hovered over the tiny black power key as my pointer-finger began to tremble with fear and excitement. Or perhaps it was the two cups of Donut Shop cinnamon roll coffee I brewed earlier that Monday morning. Either way, as I prepared to embark on this digital journey, I paused to take three deep breaths  -  -  -

Barring any technical difficulties, pushing this power button signifies the next chapter in my career. A chapter with great purpo… and my newly-appointed Macbook is dead. That’s about all you can expect out of 2020.

The tiny amber-colored light flickers on the charging cable as I await that familiar bitten apple paired with its friendly chime. The cable changes to the warmest of greens and I am welcomed by the NRMN team.

Welcome Brady Burns!

Hello! It seems almost standard practice at this point to say that I am very excited to meet you all (virtually). My name is Brady Burns and I am the Digital Communication Strategist for NRMN and your new editor for this newsletter.

I have worked in higher education marketing in several functions including central communications and student affairs. I earned both my master’s degree in journalism and my bachelor’s degree in strategic communication with a minor in photography from the University of North Texas. My specialties include social media management, graphic design and photography.

As Digital Communication Strategist, I will provide and promote networking opportunities for NRMN mentees and mentors through strategic marketing campaigns including this newsletter you are reading.

As we all start this new chapter together, I encourage each of you to pause and take three deep breaths  -  -  -

If you have any questions about NRMN or just want to introduce yourself and say hello, you can email me at Brady.Burns@unthsc.edu.

Wishing you well, Brady
