National Institutes of Health Diversity Program Consortium Meets to Celebrate Completion of Initiative’s Phase I, Launches Phase II

The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Diversity Program Consortium (DPC) held its fifth annual conference from July 29-30, 2019, in Bethesda, Maryland. Members of this groundbreaking initiative traveled from all over the country to celebrate the completion of their first five-year phase, and to kick off the beginning of the second five years of the project.

BUILD PODER Jumpstarts Student Research Journeys for New Cohort

The BUILD PODER 5th Annual Summer Jumpstart was attended by 27 new BUILD PODER scientists across many disciplines. Students participated in a four-week orientation training on campus which included courses on professional development, ethics in science, coding, social media and graduate school preparation.

Summer Immersion at PSU BUILD EXITO

Summer at BUILD EXITO marked several significant transitions the program’s students. The incoming cohort traveled from all over the Pacific Northwest and Pacific Rim for a one-week orientation. Second-year students placed in their research learning communities and attended the “Summer Induction” program, and students participating in their third summer spent their weeks in the lab and engaged in the “Summer Immersion” program.
