NIGMS Early Career Investigator Lecture

The annual NIGMS Early Career Investigator Lecture will take place on April 17 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm EST.

This year, the speaker is Jeramiah Smith, Ph.D. He is an Assistant Professor in Biology at the University of Kentucky, and his research focuses on genetically exceptional organisms. Currently, he’s studying sea lamprey genomics. This sea creature can repair its injured spinal cord, and Smith (and other researchers) are hopeful that by studying sea lampreys, they can learn more about cancer biology, tissue regeneration and more

Dr. Smith will talk about his research for about 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A. To help make the Q&A more interesting, NIGMS is soliciting questions from students (and staff) ahead of time. If you and/or your students have questions that you would like to submit for the Q&A, please send them to Christa Reynolds (christa.reynolds@nih.gov).

The Diversity Program Consortium Coordination and Evaluation Center at UCLA is supported by Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health / National Institutes of General Medical Sciences under award number U54GM119024.
